Lessons/Books/Material:
Lessons are held weekly following the yearly calendar that
is posted on the piano blog and given to all students at the beginning of each
fall semester. Lessons focus on
technique and skills to enable each student to play whatever type of music they
choose.
Mrs. Jenn maintains a music library of piano books and
theory games available for students to help master skills and theory. These items will be loaned as needed. Students are expected to respect all of Ms.
Jenn’s property and equipment. If a
student does no respect the property, you will be charged for the replacement
cost of broken items. Normal wear and
tear is expected.
If books are not available, you are responsible for the
purchase of your child’s lesson materials.
Tuition:
Beginning January 1, 2015, tuition will be charged as a
monthly fee at a rate of $15.00 per lesson for all new students. Students who began prior to this date will
keep their current rate. Tuition is
due at the 1st lesson of each month. If you are more than 1 week late, a $10 late
fee will be added to your monthly tuition.
Tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance. This monthly fee reserves a weekly time slot
for your student whether you choose to attend or miss. Tuition covers not only the actual lesson time
each week, but also time preparing for each student.

Attendance:
Please choose a lesson time in which you are confident will
work for your schedule. Your tuition
reserves a weekly time slot in my schedule for your student. Unlike a doctor or hairdresser, I cannot
resell my time, or create extra teaching time to give lessons. Make up lessons will not be available, due to
the high number of students. In the rare
event a cancellation of a lesson is due to a conflict in my schedule, your
tuition will be applied to next month’s balance.
Please be on time for your lesson and when picking up your
child afterwards. Time lost due to
tardiness will not be made up, nor will a credit be issued. This ensures that none of my lessons run
behind schedule.
All students are expected to arrive each week prepared for
lesson time with all materials needed.
This includes lesson books, notebooks, games or theory aids that may
have been loaned to you. Students who are
unprepared for more than 3 lessons each semester without materials needed will
be sent home with a cancelled lesson for the day. No refunds will be given for these
cancellations.
Practice:
Students are required to complete their assignments each
week. Daily practice is extremely
important to be successful when learning an instrument. Ideally students should aim for at least 5
days of practice each week. Practice
times should not be lengthy or painful!
Quality practice time is better than the quantity of practice. The recommended amount of practice time will
be discussed with each student at the beginning of each semester.
Fall
Semester:
Fall Competitions will begin the week of September 14. There will be a notes competition, a sight
reading competition, and a theory competition during the fall semester. Notes will be send notes home with each
student who is participating.

These dates are tentative and are subject to change based on
school schedules. Final dates will be
determined in October and March.
Misc.
Email or text is the best and preferred way to reach
me. If you need to cancel a lesson at
the last minute, please text. I check
email several times a day. I only take
emergency calls during piano lessons.

posted here. All parents need to follow
the blog to allow them to receive updates via email. Log on today and select “follow by email” on
the left side of the page (only on full site page). You will receive a confirmation email from

Pianos are a very big investment. I understand wanting to wait to make the
investment when you are sure of your child’s interest. Beginning students may begin lessons on a
keyboard, but will want to graduate to a better quality instrument if they take
lessons, for a year or more. I can help
you with selecting digital pianos or acoustic pianos.
If you have an acoustic piano at home, please make sure it
is tuned. All acoustic pianos should be
tuned once per year. I can recommend a
great tuner if one is needed.

My responsibility is to provide a positive atmosphere for
learning. It is my goal to provide your
child with the best possible music education.
I set high expectations for each of my students based on their
abilities. I want all students to love
music as I do and I want to push them to be successful with their goal of
learning to play the piano.
