December 12-January 8 - No Piano Lessons! Merry Christmas

Decemebr 21 - Arkansas Children's Hospital Performance

Mark Your Calendar!!!

I am very excited to announce that on December 21, Ms. Jenn's piano students will have the wonderful opportunity to perform our Christmas recital music at Arkansas Children's Hospital.  We are scheduled to perform at 12:30pm.  I am so excited about this opportunity!!!!  We will get to spread a little Christmas cheer to some wonderful children.  This will be a great experience for everyone!!!

Fall Competitions

Beginning the week of August 29, 2011, we will be reviewing material for our fall competitions.  We will have a "Signs & Symbols Competition" and a "Scales Competition."  Be ready to work!!  The prize will be awarded at the Christmas recital in December.  Competition begins September 12!

Off To A GREAT Start!!!

We made it through the 1st week of lessons and are half way through the 2nd.  I am so excited to see everyone after our summer break.  Make sure to practice!

Notes In the Fastlane Competition - Results Week 4

We have a NEW weekly winner!  Congratulations, Abby!  She came in with the fastest time this week.  Here are the weekly results:  Abby - 44 seconds, Sophia - 45 seconds, John - 45 seconds, Amelia - 50 seconds.  Keep practicing!! The race is very close!

Summer Lesson Registration Deadline

Notes in the Fastlane Competition - Week 4

Due to the severe weather that threatened our state this week, many piano lessons were cancelled.  We are postponing our competition until next week.  Practice hard everyone!

Notes In The Fastlane Competition --Week 3

Here are the results for week 3 of our competition.  Congratulations Amelia!!  She has led the competition all 3 weeks.  Everyone practice hard and get ready for week 4....

Week 2 Competition Results

Here are the results for the second week of our "Notes In The Fast Lane Competition."  1st place - Amelia - 40 seconds; 2nd place - John - 41 seconds; 3rd place - Sophia - 42 seconds; 4th place - Abby - 51 seconds.  Great Job Everybody!!!!!  Keep practicing!!!

Notes in the Fast Lane Competition

We started our competition this week. This year will be a very close race. Our weekly results are: 1st Place - Amelia - 41 seconds; 2nd Place - Abby - 44 seconds; 3rd Place - Sophia - 45 seconds; 4th Place - John - 49 seconds. Congratulations to Amelia for her 1st place this week. Check back next week for our week 2 standings.

New Student

We are so excited to have a new student, Cameron! She will be starting lessons on Tuesday!

Summer Lessons!

I am posting a preliminary outline of the summer piano lessons. I am very excited to offer a different approach to our summer lessons this year!!! My plans are to provide several group lessons during the summer. These group lessons will replace the weekly individual lessons for the summer. My current lessons plans include Theory, Rhythm, Music Reading, and Dynamics. I may add another 1-2 categories. There will be more information available in the next few weeks!

Reading Music!!!

Almost every student has been working with me each week to increase our fluency in reading music. We have been using flashcards and our board to work each week. I have started timing everyone to help increase our speed. Beginning in March, we will launch our "Notes In The Fastlane Competition." I will post our weekly results so check back soon!

I have set a goal to do a better job of keeping the piano blog updated more frequently this year. Please check back periodically to see what is going on during our piano lessons each week.

Lessons will resume the week of January 10, 2011. I am looking forward to seeing everyone you next week. Practice, Practice, Practice.

I am also posting the dates for cancelled lessons due to holidays and school breaks. I hope this helps everyone with their schedules.

February 21, 2011 - Cancel - Presidents Day
March 21 - 25, 2011 - Cancel - Spring Break
May 27, 2011 - Last day for Spring Lessons before summer lessons begin.
